SISTER Wives star Christine Brown has flaunted her thinner face after months of weight loss.

In a new video shared to her Instagram Stories, Christine's face looked noticeably thinner.

In her most recent clip, Christine spent some time with her new beau David Woolley and her daughter Truely.

Christine grinned wide and showed off her shrunken figure while sitting in the passenger side of an ATV.

She looked especially thin in her latest video as well as some of her more recent photos.

Just a day prior, Christine posed with David in the middle of Utah and showed off her slim new frame in another snapshot.

As she and David have steadily spent more time together, Christine has shown off a much thinner figure.

Fans have noted that each of the three Sister Wives who have left Kody Brown has been "glowing," Christinie included.

Sister Wives star Janelle Brown has also been dramatically losing weight and is now over 100 pounds down.

Meanwhile, Christine's daughter Truely bit Christine's new boyfriend David during an ATV ride.

Christine, 50, filmed the family trip while out on the road.

TheSister Wivesstar shared the clip on her Instagram account.

Inside, she was seated withDavidand daughterTruely, 12, in the back.

"We're in David's Razor, it's absolutely stunning and beautiful, and David basically says it's like Disneyland with no rides!"

David interjected, saying "Ah, she just bit me!"

Truely wore a mischievous grin as she had chomped on David's hand moments prior.

She giggled as she panned the camera back to daughter Truely in the backseat.

"Really, Truely? Be nice to David!" Christine joked.

"No," Truely replied.

Christine gave an awkward "Okay" as she moved the camera back to the front seat with David.

"This is the most fun ever! Seriously, I love it," Christine said as she showed off the snow on one side of the area and the sunlight on the other.

Truely moved over to grin into the camera between Christine and David's seats.

Fans weren't pleased with Truely's behavior and took it as a worrying sign for Christine and David's relationship.

One asked: "Why did she bite him?"

Another commented: "I have to say, his reaction was calm and he just laughed it off. I felt like that was a good sign."

A third wrote: "Does anyone think this is too much too fast? For Christine and Truely? I know the show is a year (or more) behind, but I hope there was some settling time before jumping into another relationship. Im 100% team Christine."

A fourth shared: "Not too fast for Christine but too fast for Truely. My parents divorced when I was 16 and I wouldnt have wanted to be around any of their love interests but all kids are different."

Meanwhile, Christine has thrown some subtle shade at her ex-husband Kody in a new Instagram post with her new beau.

Christineposed with her partner,David Woolley, in front of a scenic vista with the sun and mountains behind them.

Christine captioned her photo: "Life is short, why not take a wonderful weekend get away for some fun new adventures. I love having a partner to go on these fun new adventures with. We could not get enough of the gorgeous views. Utah is a beautiful place, there are so many secrets to explore."

This comment included some subtle shade at ex-husband Kody as Christine was the first of his four wives to split from him.

Her remark about "having a partner to go on these fun new adventures with" reflects how Kody ended up ignoring her in the later stages of her relationship.

One of Christine's previous complaints about her relationship with Kody was that he didn't spend enough time with her.

At one point, Kody revealed to Christine that he never found her attractive.

Christine has since found a seemingly ideal partner in David.

The pair has been seen sharing kind words about one another on social media.

They have been cozied up together across a variety of new photos and aren't shy about letting the world know how they feel about one another.

Meanwhile, Christineshowed off her weight lossin a floral dress while celebrating her daughter Aspyn's 28th birthday.

Christine, 50, posted sweet snaps with Aspyn, as well as her daughters Mykelti, 26, and Ysabel, 19, on Thursday.

Christinedisplayedher slimmer figurein a chic printed dress teamed with a leather jacket and black strappy heels.

She shared photos with her daughters as they had tea at a luxury hotel in Salt Lake City.

TheTLCstar also posted a brief clip of herself smiling as she ate dessert with Ysabel.

She captioned it: "Had a lovely time during High Tea to celebrate Aspyns birthday.

"Shes such an amazing strong and independent woman. Im so proud of everything shes accomplished. I love sharing in her life moments."

TheSister Wivesstar has six children with her ex-husbandKody Brown- Aspyn, Mykelti, Paedon, 24, Gwendlyn, 21, and Truely, 12.

Earlier this week, Christinecuddled up to her new boyfriend David Woolleyon Instagram.

The reality star gushed over her romance with her new beau and seemingly threw shade atKodyin the process.

She shared a snap of the couple getting cozy while dining at a restaurant.

Christine boasted about their relationship in her caption: "I can't express how amazing it's been to have David in my life. He's an incredible man and he treats me like his Queen."

Sister Wivesfans jumped to the comments section to applaud the star for finding happiness sinceleaving Kody in November 2021.

Christine has been sharing lovey-dovey posts with her new man since they began dating last month.

In a photo hard-launching them as a couple, she called the 59-year-old construction executive the "love of my life."

David has already gotten thestamp of approvalfrom Christine's children as her daughter Gwendlyn recently spoke about the arrangement via a newYouTube video.

Carbonated water seems as benign as the bubbles rising in the glassbut is it?

For perspective, consider the apple: An apple appears healthy, too. "An apple a day keeps the doctor away," so the saying goes. But bake it into a buttery crisp or pie adorned with scoops of ice cream, toffee chunks and a caramel drizzle, and you've suddenly turned that sinless apple into a sugary saturated fat dessert from hell.

Likewise, not all carbonated water concoctions are healthy. Soda is carbonated water after all, but adulterated with high-fructose corn syrup, brominated vegetable oil, often caffeine, and either caramel coloring or, in the case of orange soda, yellow 6 and red 40.

OK, that's an extreme example. While far less bastardized than cola, sparkling waters flavored with fruit essence, too, may not be the ideal beverage for a health-conscious person like you. And that begs the question

In short, carbonated water is simply bubbly water. Technically, it's H2O infused with CO2, the same carbon dioxide you exhale.

The book Trends in Non-alcoholic Beverages, 2020 explains it simply as the dissolution of cold CO2 gas in water under high pressure. These bubble dynamics turn plain water into fizzy water, also known as carbonated water, soda water, seltzer, club soda, etc. When the gas dissolves in water naturally underground in wells and springs, it's called sparkling water, and it contains minerals like sodium and calcium. (Think: Perrier mineral water or San Pellegrino.)

Otherwise, CO2 is pumped in through an industrial process at a beverage plant or by the soda maker device on your bar or kitchen counter. Add sugar, coloring and other stuff and you get Coca-Cola and its cousins. Tonic water is another type of carbonated water, but with bitter quinine and high-fructose corn syrup added, which makes your double shot gin & tonic about 150 calories.

Consumer desire to avoid those sugary, high-calorie sodas has made seltzers and sparkling waters all the rage, say dietitians we spoke with. The market for these seemingly healthier bottled beverages is expected to grow to $93.6 billion by 2033, according to Future Market Insights. Considering America's obesity crisis and the number of diabetics topping 37 million (97 million adults have prediabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association), most experts welcome that trends.

"Pure, plain carbonated water is still water and can help you stay hydrated, especially if you struggle to drink enough plain water throughout the day," says Lauren Manaker, MS, RDN, author of The First Time Mom's Pregnancy Cookbook and Fueling Male Fertility.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

"There's no scientific evidence to suggest that carbonated water is bad for you," says registered dietitian Mary Wirtz, MS, RDN, CSSD, a board-certified sports dietitian, and consultant for Mom Loves Best. "I support individuals drinking carbonated water to increase baseline hydration. Most women should consume 11.5 cups of hydrating beverages daily, while men should aim for 15.5 cups, according to the National Academies of Sciences, Engineering, and Medicine. This can be daunting, but carbonated water, among other beverages, can make this goal more achievable."

The fizz of carbonated water makes it seem more enjoyable than drinking plain water. Added flavors do the same. "

They won't bore you," says Katherine Gomez, RD, a registered dietitian with clinical and research experience who is also a medical reviewer for PsycheMag. "Carbonated waters come in a variety of highly satisfying flavors, and we often feel like having more and more."

Of course, you can always squeeze a lemon into plain carbonated water or add fresh or frozen fruit slices for flavor.

When you drink carbonated water, you swallow more air than you normally would by eating or drinking anything else due to the CO2 trapped in the water.

"Those bubbles may cause bloating, which can be uncomfortable," says Manaker. "This can especially be troublesome for people suffering with irritable bowel syndrome (IBS)."

The fizzy stimulation in the gut can cause constipation or trigger loose bowel movements. On the flip side, the bubbly expansion in your stomach may result in calorie-free satiety. One study compared the effect of carbonated water to the influence of still water on feelings of hunger and satiety in a small group of young women. Researchers found that greater fullness and decreased feelings of hunger occurred only when the women consumed the carbonated water.

A few studies suggest that carbonated waterwith or without artificial sweetenersmay lead to weight gain and a greater body mass index even though they may contain zero calories. How so?

For one, "artificial sweeteners can have negative effects on digestive health and blood sugar levels as well as serious health side effects," notes registered dietitian nutritionist Mary Sabat, MS, RDN, owner of Body Design by Mary.

For example, research published in 2014 in Nature demonstrated that nonnutritive sweeteners changed the intestinal microbiome of both mice and humans, and can negatively impact metabolism and glucose response. And a meta-analysis of observational studies published in the Canadian Medical Association Journal linked nonnutritive sweeteners to increases in weight and waist circumference, and higher incidence of obesity, hypertension, metabolic syndrome, type 2 diabetes, and cardiovascular events.

But even those innocent bubbles in pure unadulterated sparkling water may play a role in weight gain. Small experiments on rats and humans published in 2017 in Obesity Research and Clinical Practice suggest that the fizziness caused by the carbon dioxide in beverages causes the release of the so-called hunger hormone ghrelin, which may prompt overeating.

Zero-calorie diet soda is essentially carbonated water with coloring and an artificial sweetener added. It's used by millions of dieters in place of sugar-sweetened beverages for decades and some studies have shown their efficacy in reducing bodyweight. While there's little research on pure sparkling water, zero-calorie carbonated water without coloring and artificial sweeteners added may work the same way as artificially sweetened no- and low-cal drinks.

"As a replacement for sugary drinks, carbonated water can help reduce your calorie intake and support your weight-loss efforts," says registered dietitian Barbara Kovalenko, RD, and nutrition consultant atthe weight-loss app Lasta.

Not to the extent that drinking lots of soda will, but, yes, unsweetened carbonated water can contribute to cavities.

"Carbonated water may have a lower pH than regular still water, and that lower pH can erode tooth enamel over time," says Manaker.

Acidic drinks like fruit juice, sugary sodas and even sparkling waters, especially those that are citrus-flavored, can dissolve the minerals in our teeth, according to a study published recently in the Journal of the American Dental Association (JADA). Related research in JADA Foundational Science found that the dentin, the area under the enamel that protects the nerves, is particularly susceptible to erosion from sugar-free carbonated waters.

When the summer sun is beating down and you're sweating, a drink of either plain water or carbonated water will rehydrate you. But if you want to stay alert and avoid heat-related drowsiness, go for the bubbly stuff. In a 2022 experiment reported in the journal Physiological Behavior, researchers gave healthy young adults either cold carbonated or cold non-carbonated water in a stressfully hot environment. Their analysis found that the carbonated water caused an increase in cerebral blood flow and blood pressure and greater feelings of motivation and exhilaration compared with the plain water.

Some seltzers and carbonated waters contain potentially unhealthy levels of synthetic PFAS chemicals that have been linked to a variety of health issues, according to a study by Consumer Reports in 2020.

"Many popular beverage brands contain these chemicals known as per- and polyfluoroakyl substances (PFAS)," says Trista Best, MPH, RD, LD, a registered dietitian for Balance Once Supplements. "These man-made chemicals often used in food packaging are also known as "forever chemicals" because they are difficult to break down in the body or the environment."

Epidemiological studies suggest potential associations between PFAS exposure and liver disease, altered, immune and thyroid function, insulin dysregulation, kidney disease and some cancers. The Environmental Protection Agency recommends limiting PFASs in bottled water to 70 parts per trillion (ppt), but each state can set their own standards with some as low as 12 ppt. Some experts call for less than 1 ppt to be acceptable.

There's very little evidence to suggest that drinking carbonated water poses a risk to your health.

"Generally speaking, it's not bad for you and it may actually provide some potential health benefits," says Sabat. "Carbonated water can help to keep you hydrated, as it has the same amount of electrolytes as regular water."

While it may cause bloating, some people find it relieves indigestion and reduces gas discomfort. Drinking carbonated water may keep you from overeating (and help you lose weight) thanks to the satiating bubbles and water volume as long as your beverage doesn't contain 12 teaspoons of sugar like most carbonated sodas do. And those citrus-flavored seltzerseven the sparkling water you squeeze lemons, limes and oranges into to add flavorare unlikely to rot your teeth unless you drink a lot of them every day. Even then, you can reduce the risk simply by rinsing your mouth with water after downing a glass to neutralize the acids.

The bottom line: "Carbonated beverages can serve a great purpose in your health, but the kind you choose should be considered carefully," says Best.

And when in doubt, you can't go wrong choosing that sports drink of your childhoodcold, refreshing water from the garden hose.

HOUSTON - Despite the U.S. having a sizable Muslim population, there remains a lot of confusion when it comes to how they worship or practice certain religious rituals like Ramadan, which this year begins Wednesday, March 22 in the evening.

According to an article from Pew Research, about 53% of Americans say they dont personally know anyone who is Muslim, and a similar share (52%) say they know very little or "nothing at all" about Islam. For that reason, its understandable why there remain questions about Muslims in America observing Ramadan.

This is partly because, for one, its hard to pinpoint exactly when the celebrations take place.

Additionally, it is a challenge to properly define Ramadan, as it means different things to other people. And the answers to various questions may come as a surprise, so just in case there is curiosity about things some might be too shy to ask, weve got you covered with some frequently asked questions.

Imam Jihad Muhammad a religious leader at Fifth Ward Islamic Center of Human Development in Houston, Texas explains the spiritual significance behind Ramadan and fasting for Muslims.

In the simplest terms, Ramadan is an Islamic holiday (like Lent) where Muslims fast - abstain from food and drinks (even water) as well as other things perceived as vices from sunrise to sunset for 30 days. Muslims also take the holy month to consider those less fortunate, practice patience, and devote time and energy to helping others.

"Ramadan, actually, the name itself comes from the [Arabic] word Ramad, which means to burn or to be hot," Religious leader, Imam Jihad Muhammad of Fifth Ward Islamic Center for Human Development in Houston explained. "And so Ramadan is looked upon as a month of using fasting, to burn away the impurities of our souls, of our characters and get ourselves in tune or in compliance with the will of God."

Ramadan tends to follow a Lunar calendar and the sighting of the New Moon.This year, it's expected on Wednesday, March 22, and expected to go on until Thursday, April 20.

"[Ramadan] is set on a lunar calendar, so it occurs 11 days earlier every year, so it's not necessarily the exact same season every year," Imam Muhammad explained. "So if you practice long enough, inshallah (God willing) you will observeRamadan in many seasons."

Dr. Hasan Gokal, a Muslim doctor with more than 20 years of experience told us back in 2022, how fasting during Ramadan is more difficult than simply just dieting or even not eating during a particular window of time, as demonstrated in Intermittent Fasting.

"Ramadan fasting is in fact, much more difficult," he said. "And the reason why it's more difficult is because you're talking about not eating or drinking anything from sunup to sundown."

A doctor breaks down the health aspect of how Muslims fast during Ramadan including what it entails such as abstaining from food and drink (even water) from sunrise to sunset.

"So with intermittent fasting, you can kind of see all right, you have you know, 12 hours, 14 hours, 16 hours, you get the shift in between, you can drink water, you can drink, things like coffee, and on drinks like that, that don't have calories in them," Dr. Gokal continued. "But here you're not having anything from sunup to sundown. And depending on the area of the country you live in, that can be a really long time can be up to 18 hours like that. So it is truly much harder."

The fact that fasting during the day involves not even drinking water tends to catch people by surprise. However, this also includes anything that might even be considered mind-altering like smoking or even engaging in sexual activity.

"From dawn to dusk, and there is no eating, there is no drinking, there is no sex, and we abstain from any supplements, vitamins, anything of that nature that can give the body sustenance," Imam Muhammad said. "So we don't only fast from the appetites of the stomach but we also fast from appetites of pleasure...so that really constitutes that physical part of the fast, but it's a fast for the total body.

"You know, it's a fast for the body, fast for the mind, fast for the spirit, so we abstain from anything immoral, anything that would compromise our integrity or our moral life, we abstain from doing those fasting hours," he continued.

There are conflicting thoughts on whether you can actually lose weight from fasting during Ramadan, and according to medical experts like Dr. Gokal, theres a reason for that.

"It depends, and many people do take advantage of that and do lose weight and find themselves at the end of the month to be lighter and feeling better," he said. "But more often than not, people just sort of pig out at the end of the night, and you know, make up for more than the calories that they lost during the daytime, so that kind of is dependent on what you want to accomplish out of it."

While fasting during Ramadan is obligatory for all practicing Muslims, there are certain exceptions including if you have health conditions that impede you from doing so, are too young, or are traveling.

"The fasting at least for Ramadan fasting is not meant as hardship; it's supposed to be a training: a spiritual and physical training endeavor," Dr. Gokal said. "So those who would be considered hardship or be elderly, if you are pregnant, you're not supposed to fast, and we know that the fasting and depleting fluid and calories during pregnancy is harmful to the fetus, so nobody really wants that," he continued. "The one other exception is also during menstruation also because it just kind of dehydrates you anyway, to begin with, and [to] fast on top of that would be detrimental, so those types of scenarios, there's no obligation."

If youre unable to fast for whatever reason, Muslims are asked to remember those less fortunate and either make a donation or feed someone in need on each day you miss a fast as well as make up that day after Ramadan.

"If you're able to, feed someone less fortunate than yourself," Imam Muhammad said. "So this takes us really to the core meaning in the blessings that come with the month of Ramadan, is that the fasting in and of itself is to make us more mindful of those who are less fortunate than we are."

We all know that one person (or are that person) who if they are hungry, theyre easily frustrated or angry, thus the colloquial term: "Hangry."

"There are requirements about controlling your anger [while fasting,]" Dr. Gokal said. "And you know if you think about it, if you've ever been hangry, before, you know how easy it is to just get all ticked off about anything. And that's those are some of the things you're supposed to control."

"I'm reminded of the Snickers commercial when someone is hangry you know? You're not yourself when you're hungry, but the amazing thing about fasting during the month of Ramadan is that the Muslim is even more maneuverable," Imam Muhammad added. "He [or she] is even more kind, more compassionate, more gracious, you know which seems to go against nature itself."

Ramadan can be a very unifying time for Muslims, as strangers become familial by faith as they congregate at the mosque for evening prayers and to break their fasts. Those who arent Muslim are more than welcome to say, "Happy Ramadan" or "Ramadan Mubarak."

"It means Blessed Ramadan, and you can respond by saying Ramadan Mubarak right back some say Ramadan Kareem," Imam Muhammad explained. "It is just a way that we greet each other, and we still say Assalam Alaykum (peace be upon you) also during the month of Ramadan, but it is just to remind each other."

If you have a Muslim friend who is fasting, youre certainly more than welcome to join them. And while the challenge of abstaining from food and water might cause some apprehension, the spiritual aspect should be the main concern.

"There's two aspectsone is the food and that, you know, withholding and that partbut Part B is the self-control part of it on everything else, right being able to do the right thing and not getting angry at anybody because you're just depleted of calories or whatever," Dr. Gokal added. "Those things are hard to do, but once you do it, it is incredibly, incredibly rewarding at the end, so if anyone wants to try it out, you know, get a buddy, who's already doing it and kind of go through the process for a day and see what it feels like, and you might be surprised."

If you are not Muslim but have friends who practice, its completely understandable to want to show support. However, its just as important to be considerate and not overthink your approach.

For one, its completely OK for non-Muslims to eat among their friends or coworkers if theyre fasting.

Context, in this case, is very important. As long as youre not addressing the elephant in the room, i.e., asking someone why they arent eating or, why they are not fasting. Still, theres no reason to necessarily treat your Muslim friends and colleagues any differently.

"The world doesn't stop because the Muslim is fasting," Imam Muhammad concluded. "And here's another beautiful aspect of this when it comes to the animal kingdom, and this includes human beings lack of food and lack of water can drive an animal man it can drive an animal insane but the Muslim with the same hunger and the same thirst walks around as if he's in paradise as if he or she is in paradise, you know, and that is a miracle in itself."

Anyone attempting to lose weight or eat more healthfully likely tries to avoid fast food as much as possible. But instead of running away from it, one Tennessee man with a unique diet strategy is embracing fast food with open arms.

Kevin Maginnis, a 56-year-old business coach from Nashville, is committed to eating solely McDonald's for 100 days as part of his plan to lose weight and improve his cardiovascular health. He first spoke about the personal project in a February TikTok video that has received nearly two million views, saying that he weighed in at 238 pounds that morning and decided that that was "completely unacceptable."

The main rule of his diet is that he eats three McDonald's meals a day, but only consumes half of the portion. Additionally, whatever he doesn't finish during one meal, he saves to eat during another. However, one major swap he's making with his McDonald's orders is in the drink departmenthe's drinking water instead of soda.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

He acknowledged that McDonald's may seem like a strange selection for his diet, but said that he's trying to make an important point by singling out the fast food giant.

"I know some of you are thinking that might be crazy, but I'm going to eat nothing but McDonald's for the next 100 days," he said. "But instead of eating everything they give me, I'm going to go ahead and cut the meals in half just to kind of prove to myself and maybe some of the people watching that it's not as much what you're eating. It's the quantity that we're eating that really jacks us up."

During a recent appearance on Tucker Carlson Tonight where he discussed the McDonald's diet even further, Maginnis said that he makes sure to "seek the heat" before he eats. This means that he waits until he can feel the hunger, or "heat," in his stomach before consuming any food.

"Everyone else calls it hunger. I call it my incinerator turning on to get rid of all the excess and also burn off some of the fat off my body, and then I'll have that next meal."

If this reminds you of the 2004 documentary Super Size Me, you're not alone. Several TikTokers pointed out the parallels between Maginnis' diet and filmmaker Morgan Spurlock's film, which explored the negative physical and mental effects of consuming nothing but McDonald's for one month.

Responding to one of these TikTokers, Maginnis referred to his own weight loss journey as " size me."

For any remaining skeptics, Maginnis has continued to document his experience on TikTok and claims that he's already seeing progress. In his most recent video posted today, which marks day 14 of the 100-day diet, he said that he was already down 16 pounds.

In the longer term, Maginnis believes that he'll be able to more than triple what he's already lost. While speaking to Carlson, he predicted that he'll be able to drop 50 pounds by the end of the 100 days and end up with better blood work and better overall health.

"You don't believe me? Just follow along, let's find out," he told Carlson.

FAIRVIEW, Tennessee (WSMV) When trying to lose weight you might avoid McDonalds. But one Fairview man says thats the only place he turned to.

When its lunch hour at the Fairview McDonalds, for most people in the drive-thru line its their first Mickey Ds trip of the day.

For Kevin Maginnis, its his second. In fact, for the past 17 days hes gone to the fine fast-food establishment for every meal.

The trick is he only eats half the portion hes given.

This isnt supersized me; this is half size me, says Maginnis.

Hes on a mission to lose 50 pounds in 100 days.

Nothing else has gone in my body, not even a breath mint, Maginnis adds.

Its a journey he started with his very first TikTok that went viral with 2-million views. In it, he says he was originally at 238 pounds, which was unacceptable, so he went to McDonalds.

With millions of people watching, theres no way Im going to slip up and accidentally over eat and eat the whole thing, Maginnis says.

If its working for him, kudos to him, says Dr. Gitanjali Srivastava, a weight-loss doctor at Vanderbilt University Medical Center.

She says Maginnis diet isnt for everyone and people should focus on eating unprocessed foods like fruits, vegetables, and whole grains.

There are harmful effects for a long term processed diet, says Srivastava. It can have detrimental effects on our cholesterol, our glucose, all of those levels.

I have a lot of people who say this isnt healthy, dont believe that its good, youre going to kill yourself, rest in peace, says Maginnis. For all of them I say follow along, lets find out.

He says he doesnt care what some doctors have to say. He is down 18 pounds already by eating half his meals and taking the rest home for dinner.

Thats something Maginnis will be doing for the next 83 days.

Can we just fast forward to the end? he says. Can we just go right there and see what it turns out to be?

Maginnis says he checked in with doctors and cardiologists. They say he is in good shape right now.

Eating fast food to lose weight might seem like an oxymoron, but one TikTok user is causing quite a stir with his surprising weight loss strategy.

After he recently hit 238 pounds, 56-year-old business coach Kevin Maginnis of Nashville, Tennessee, announced his plan to eat only McDonald's for three meals a day for 100 days straight in an effort to shed some pounds.

In the viral TikTok video, Maginnis called his weight absolutely unacceptableand said he planned to slim down by limiting his portions and eating only half of each McDonald's order.

After kicking off his 100-day weight loss challenge on Feb. 21, the TikToker stopped by the TODAY show on March 2 to share an update on his progress. Maginnis is down 12.5 pounds and said he's feeling a lot of momentum.

"My belief is (I'll) be down 50 poundsby the end, my health will be better, my bloodwork will be better. And if you dont believe me, follow along," he told TODAY's Carson Daly and Sheinelle Jones.

Prior to starting the challenge, Maginnis got bloodwork done, and several of the markers were "going in the wrong direction, he said.

Maginnis said his strategy is absolutely workingso far and explained that he only eats half of what he orders so he can reduce his caloric intake. He saves the half he doesnt eat for his next meal.

The idea of restricting calories, anytime Ive lost weightin my life has always been (tied to that method). I actually was a wrestler, I boxed in the military. So there (are) times you have to make weight and you cut calories, he explained.

Sheinelle admitted that she originally thought Maginnis must be surviving on salads and water alone, but he shared an example of what he eats on an average day. And yes, burgers, fries and desserts are on the menu. But Maginnis swaps out soda for water and also skips snacking between meals.

Maginnis said that sharing his weight loss journey with TikTok users helps keep him accountable for his goals, especially since he weighs himself every day now and shares it with his viewers.

Like many people, Carson was curious to know why the TikToker chose to eat McDonald's in particular for 100 days straight.

"Because Im big (and) my name is Maginnis, so the nickname Big Mac has been thrown out at times. I figured, 'Why not embrace it?' And I like McDonalds," he said, adding that the fast food chain is not sponsoring him.

Maginnis said people often ask if he's hungry, since he's limiting his food intake.

"The answer is, well, of course. You have to get to that part of your stomach where you have some heat in your stomach," he said. "They call it hunger, I call it my incinerator turning on to burn off all the excess fat."

Maginnis said doctors have reacted to his diet in the comments of his TikTok videos with mixed opinions.

"I've had cardiologists that love it, and I've had cardiologists that hate it," he said.

Weighing in on Maginnis' belief that his health will be improved at the end of the challenge, registered dietitian Frances Largeman-Roth tells TODAY.com that it is possible to lose weight while eating fast food. But she emphasizes that weight loss isn't entirely about calorie restriction.

"While this plan seems to be working for Kevin right now, the weight loss will eventually plateau, and he will need to add physical activity or make additional changes to his diet to keep losing weight," she explains. "And lets remember that health isnt just about the number on the scale. Its also about cardiovascular health and other measures."

Fast food isn't generally something that experts advise eating too often, but Largeman-Roth says Maginnis' diet is safe "for the short term."

"However, everything that health professionals know about how to be healthy over time is missing from McDonalds food and other types of highly processed foods," she adds. "Including 25 to 30 grams of fiber daily, including legumes, nuts and seeds, fruits and vegetables and fatty fish in ones eating plan all contribute to longevity."

By missing out on key nutrients, Maginnis isn't doing anything to reduce his risk for heart disease, colon cancer, stroke or diabetes, Largeman-Roth says.

"Plus, even though Kevin is cutting his meals in half, hes still getting well over the recommended 2,300 milligrams of sodium daily. One bacon, egg and cheese biscuit contains 1,330 milligrams of sodium and a Big Mac has over 1,000 milligrams without ketchup or mustard," the dietitian explains.

Before anyone embarks on a similar diet to Maginnis', Largeman-Roth recommends considering long-term health goals and the impact that eating fast food daily can have on them.

"Its not so much that youre only eating burgers and fries. Its about what youre not eating for 100 days fiber-rich fruits, veggies, whole grains, nuts and seeds," she emphasizes.

Largeman-Roth also suggests consulting a health care professional before starting any weight loss routine. She did give Maginnis one major bit of kudos, though.

"I do like that Kevin is sticking to water instead of sodathats a smart choice," Largeman-Roth says.
