It involves consuming only 800 calories two days a week, and a moderately low-carb Mediterranean-style diet is followed the other five days a week.

When you sign up, you answer several rounds of questions about your goals and lifestyle habits, and a diet plan is generated. Due to the small amount of weight, I wanted to lose, the website chose the New Way of Life programme for me to follow, which would see a healthy weight loss of 0.5-1lb a week for 12 weeks.

I overrode this programme choice and chose the New 5:2 diet.

From there, you can track your progress, plan next weeks meals and even create a shopping list for the ingredients you need.

There is also a section on exercise, with detailed sessions and videos to guide you.

Many people give up on diets due to lack of support, but The Fast 800 has you covered with the Community tab where you can connect with fellow members, and join groups.

The texture of the shakes was also unusual, personally, I found them really gritty, with a strong metallic aftertaste. Fast 800 says the texture is because they use "real food/natural ingredients" and the texture is "important because one of the things that we tend to miss out on with meal replacements is natural fibre".

I was then sent the new salted caramel protein shake flavour, and it was by far the nicest flavour from the selection - it contained 194 calories, 21.6 of protein, and 6.7g of fibre.

The salted caramel shake was also really smooth after it had been thoroughly shaken - and the stainless steel shaker was also great at keeping the shake cold for several hours if necessary.

I drank the shakes both on fasting days and non-fasting days and found they filled me up quickly, and that feeling lasted for several hours.

On the days I ate 800 calories, I really noticed a change in my mood and believe this was down to both a lack of food and as well as thinking about the food I could eat. I experienced some hunger pangs, but these passed after drinking a glass of water or herbal tea.

Dr Michael recommends exercise snacking or regular HIIT sessions - of which there are several on the website to explore and try.

As someone who exercises regularly, I struggled on the fasting days not to go to the gym and distract myself from thinking about my next meal or wanting to eat. Due to the limited calories you consume on fasting days, its not recommended to undertake strenuous exercise.

The New 5:2 diet is really easy to follow; so many people struggle with diets that are calorie restricted, but because there are only two days a week of eating 800 calories, it was easy to shift your mindset and push through, knowing the following day you could consume around 1600 calories of tasty, nutritional, Mediterranean-style meals.

In the end, I lost three pounds in four weeks by following the New 5:2 diet plan, so I'd recommend it for anyone looking for quick weight loss, or anyone wanting to overhaul their lifestyle and adopt a healthier way of living and eating.

The Fast 800 offers a seven day free trial; you can cancel any time, and no payment is taken until the free trial ends. The website is currently offering a 12 week deal for 199 which includes online assessments to tailor your journey, 18 meal plans, 599 recipes, shopping lists, home workout videos and group support.

Omega-3 fatty acids improve muscle activity and cell growth. They provide the starting point for making the hormones that regulate blood clotting, contraction and relaxation of artery walls, and inflammation. Omega-3 fatty acids can't be manufactured in the body. Fish oil, however, contains two omega-3s called docosahexaenoic acid (DHA) and eicosapentaenoic acid (EPA). You can find DHA and EPA in fatty fish, (such as salmon, mackerel, and trout) and shellfish (such as mussels, oysters, and crabs). There are also some nuts, seeds, and vegetable oils that contain another omega-3 called alpha-linolenic acid (ALA). A great way to get your omega-3 fatty acids intake is with fish oil supplements which come in liquid, capsule, and pill forms. And, these supplements are also beneficial for weight loss.

"While fish oil supplements are not usually recommended for losing weight, some research suggests that fish oil supplements may be beneficial," Sabat says. "Fish oil supplements contain Omega-3 fatty acids which have been linked to improved metabolic health and reduced inflammation, both of which will affect your ability to lose weight."

"Omega-3 fatty acids have been linked to improved metabolic health and reduced inflammation, which can help with weight loss," she explains."These fatty acids are known for their anti-inflammatory properties, and since inflammation makes it difficult to lose weight then including these in your diet may help you lose weight."

Not only does fish oil burn fat, but it has also been shown to improve blood pressure. "Your blood pressure will improve because fish oil is anti-inflammatory and a large contributor to high blood pressure is chronic inflammation in the body," Richards says. "Other characteristics of fish oil that make it beneficial for blood pressure aren't fully understood, but it is a well-documented fact that taking fish oil on a regular basis can improve high blood pressure."

And, Richards says that fish oil can also reduce swelling in the joints. "Because swelling from inflammation can cause further damage to joints, consuming this nutrient can have a protective side effect for joints. This essential fatty acid is anti-inflammatory and found in fish and others that are not consumed in large enough quantities in the standard American diet," she notes. "Therefore, adding omega-3 as a supplement can improve muscle and joint pain caused by inflammation from an overactive immune system." If you're still experiencing joint pain, try this simple stretch to reduce inflammation and aches.

So, adding more fish to your diet is one way to get more omega-3 fatty acids without taking supplements. And, Sabat stresses consuming wild-caught and other clean fish sources to avoid excess heavy metals and toxins. Wild-caught salmon can also help boost hair thickness and shine. Other sources of omega-3 fatty acids include walnuts, flaxseed, and some plant oils. But for anyone who's not too big on eating fish or walnuts, taking a fish oil supplement can be beneficial for your weight loss journey and your overall health. Especially if you're vegetarian or vegan!

By Elizabeth Elaine Reed, Healthy lifestyle advocate

After a long, cold winter many people have been more sedentary than they normally would be in warmer weather. With spring around the corner many are looking to tone up and/or drop a few pounds. Some people try crash diets, some try high intensity training and some look for ways to up thier metabolism to burn fat fast. Of course, a long-term healthy lifestyle is best but to get jumpstarted there are many ways to burn fat faster. If you are one looking to find ways to burn fat faster youre not alone. Many people are looking for solutions to help them achieve their fitness goals. But what works best?

Fortunately, there are strategies that can help burn fat quickly and safely. These are eight strategies are proven to burn fat fast for people. Lets take a look.

Supplements are a great way to support weight loss. The right supplement can put you on the road to better health, and while losing weight or maintaining a certain weight may be your goal, your ultimate goal should be a healthy lifestyle you can live with.

Certain supplements, such as whey protein and fish oil, can help you burn fat faster and support muscle growth. Fish oil has many advantages to it including help fight off cardiovascular disease, can help reduce diabetes symptoms ,promote good mental. health, helps with inflammation, and even stengthen the immune system. While you can get fish oil from eating the right foods such as fish and other seafood (especially cold-water fatty fish, such as salmon, mackerel, tuna, herring, and sardines), many people opt for the fish oil supplements to be sure they are getting the amount they are needing for their purpose.

While a good diet and regular exercise cant be totally replaced by supplements, they support you by giving your body an extra push. There are times when things work better for you depending on if you are male or female. Men have some unique challenges and if youre a guy and your diet and training are on point, then a fat burner may help speed up and optimize your efforts. Even if you choose to take a fat burner remember you still have to exercise and workout, it wont do the work for you.

With the right balance of vitamins, minerals, and other nutrients, you can boost muscular growth and burn fast faster. But, before using any dietary supplements, be sure to consult with your doctor

High-intensity interval training (HIIT) is one of the most effective ways to burn fat fast. This type of workout alternates periods of intense exercise with short rest intervals or active rest. HIIT workouts can be an excellent choice for people looking to burn fat quickly.

Research has shown that HIIT can result in greater weight loss and improved cardiovascular health than other types of cardio. It can also be finished quickly and is frequently shorter in duration than other types of training.

In fact, research by Harvard University shows that brief bursts of strenuous exercise may be safe for some but not all older adults.

HIIT is a great regimen for people who are young and healthy. If youre older or have heart disease, check with your doctor before trying it, says Dr. I-Min Lee, a professor of medicine at Harvard Medical School and an expert on the role of physical activity in preventing disease.

While HIIT can be beneficial the Harvard research cautions that you should check with your doctor. Some cardiac rehabilitation programs that help people recover from heart attacks and related conditions are using tailored versions of HIIT, but these closely monitored sessions start with an exercise stress test to make sure people dont have symptoms such as chest pain, which might make strenuous exercise dangerous. Outside of such settings, HIIT may be unsafe for people who have or are at risk for heart disease.

Once you have checked with your doctor and determine that HIIT training is right for you, you can check out various types of HIIT cardio workouts.

Diet plays a significant role in burning fat. The best way to make sure you get all the nutrients your body needs while avoiding foods that can make you gain weight is to eat a healthy, balanced diet. This means eating vegetables, fruits, lean proteins, whole grains, and healthy fats in the right portions for your body type.

In addition to helping you burn fat, eating a healthy diet can improve your overall health and reduce the risk of developing chronic diseases like diabetes, heart disease, and cancer. Plus, when combined with regular exercise, a healthy diet is even more effective at burning fat quickly.

A healthy and balanced diet should include food that is right for you. Some choose the low carb or keto lifestyle, some count calories, and there are many eating plans, many of which are advertised on television. The U.S. Department of Agriculture puts out guidelines they fell are helpful every five years. For many years they went with the food pyramid, but in recent years they are going with the My Plate recommendations. The graphic to the left is their suggestion.

The Dept. of Agriculture says, they eencourage healthy eating patterns at each stage of life and recognize that individuals will have to make shifts in their food and beverage to achieve a healthy pattern.

Bottom line on diet is choose something you think you can stick with. Often people think a quick crash-weight loss diet will be great because they can lose the weight they want in time for an event or season All the commercials about swim suit season coming up are just an attempt at trying to get you to try their latest diet products. While some diets offer a healthy lifestyle, such as a low-carb lifestyle if done correctly, they can also mess up your metabolism and can actually cause you to gain weigh if done in the wrong manner. There is no right or wrong way for you to live your life as far as exercise, supplements and diet, but the more you know about it, the better choices you can make.

If you want to burn fat and keep your body in balance, you must stay hydrated. It helps in the metabolization of stored fat in your body while also helping in eliminating toxins and waste. It can also reduce hunger cravings, which can help you maintain a healthy diet.

Drinking plenty of water throughout the day is vital for burning fat. Experts recommend two liters, or about eight glasses, of water daily for optimal health benefits. Dont forget to add other fluids like herbal tea and freshly squeezed juices.

Processed foods are usually high in calories and unhealthy fats, making them a no-no for people looking to burn fat fast.

According to an article on the Laborer Health and Safety Fund website, These types of foods are altered during preparation to make it more convenient, shelf-stable or flavorful. Some foods are much more processed than others. A bagged salad or pre-cut green beans technicallycount as processed, but its only minimally processed because its natural state hasnt changed. In other words, it looks pretty much the same as youd find it in nature. A box of macaroni and cheese or a microwavable dinner, on the other hand, are considered heavily processed (also called ultra processed) because theyve been chemically altered with artificial flavors, additives and other ingredients.

Processed food contain loads of added sugars, preservatives, and other unhealthy ingredients that can easily lead to weight gain.

Ditching processed foods is one of the most effective strategies for burning fat quickly and for developing healthy eating plans. Instead, focus on eating whole foods free of additives and preservatives.

Exercise is one of the best strategies for achieving or maintaining health and is a great way to burn fat fast. Regular exercise helps you burn calories, build muscle, and boost your metabolism. It also has tremendous health benefits beyond burning fat, such as reducing stress and improving overall mental and physical well-being.

Exercise helps with daily stress. If the stress of the day is getting to you, take a few minutes out and walk around, go for a run or do some exercise. There are many exercises that can even be done from your chair at work. The Total Wellness blog gives examples of discreet exercises you can do at your desk.

Yoga is a form of exercise. According to WebMD: Yogadoes more than burn calories and tone muscles. Its a total mind-body workout that combines strengthening andstretching poses with deep breathing and meditation or relaxation. Yoga has been around for more than 5,000 years and there are more than 100 different versions of yoga. Whiile exercise fads may come and go, yoga is a proven way to increase your health.

Choose at type of exercise that works for you. Exercising regularly helps you build a more robust and leaner physique, giving you the confidence to take your fitness goals to the next level. And, of course, focusing on the right exercises is critical for burning fat quickly and efficiently.

Getting sufficient sleep is essential for health and well-being and aids in burning fat quickly. Not getting enough sleep can slow your metabolism and increase cravings for unhealthy foods, making it harder to reach your fitness goals. We all know that feeling of being too tired and thinking that cookie or donut can help perk us up for the task at hand. Think ahead and get enough sleep so you wont be in that situation.

The lack of sleep can also lead to increased stress levels, which further add to the challenge of burning fat.

Adequate rest also helps the body recover from exercise and repair muscle tissue, which can aid in burning fat faster. Most experts recommend seven to nine hours of sleep each night for optimal benefits.

Stress is a significant factor when it comes to weight gain. Focusing on healthy eating habits and exercise can be tricky when feeling overwhelmed. Thats why managing stress levels is essential to any weight loss plan.

Whether through yoga, meditation, or a relaxing bath, taking time each day to de-stress can help you focus on weight loss and make it easier to reach your goals. Plus, reducing stress levels can keep cravings for unhealthy foods at bay and improve mental clarity.

Choosing to live a healthy lifestyle and in turn burning fat to lose weight or gain muscle can be difficult, but it doesnt have to be. Changing your diet, drinking lots of water, avoiding processed foods, exercising frequently, getting adequate sleep, and managing stress, you can achieve your fitness goals more quickly and feel better every day.

With dedication and consistency, youll be on your way to burning more fat and improving your overall health. One of the most important things when trying to lose or maintain weight is to recognize we are all different. What works for you may not work for me but if you continue to move forward and do your best, with a little planning you can be the best version of you you can be.

Malin Anderssonhas hit back at fans who asked how she slimmed down at speed while claiming 'scales were her biggest enemy'.

The Love Island star, 30, took to Instagram on Wednesday to share the body-positive post, where she discouraged pressures to 'look a certain way after you give birth'.

In the snap, she carried herdaughter Xaya, 13 months, as they stood on some scalers and she discussed her journey to losing weight.

Malin wrote in her caption:'HOW DID YOU LOSE WEIGHT SO FAST???? - This is the most received message Ive had.

'I didnt. I bloody didnt. And it was never about the weight. Scales were my biggest enemy and I never want Xaya to go through what I did in my teens.

'Here I stand holding my beautiful one year old. 13 months now to be precise! And let me tell you.. when I gave birth the last thing on my mind was to get up and go for a run or eat anything but takeaways.

'But I decided to make a choice months later for my health and for Xay.

'I got up most mornings on zero sleep and started off running and exercising so so gradually.. I think I had enough of feeling sluggish and depressed. (Post natal). I wanted to feel alive again and full of energy.

'I urge all new mothers to not be fooled by social media and feel pressured to look a certain way after you give birth. Take a look at your beautiful human you created and embrace and enjoy every moment.

'Time flies by so quickly and youll never get it back. There are so many unrealistic expectations that we are faced with daily.. and it makes my heart hurt seeing it online.

'Scales are the devil.. do NOT focus on your weight but how you feel internally. Exercise and eating healthy with great balance offers the best mental health cure I promise you.

'Take each day as it comes.. do not starve yourself, do not compare yourself & just enjoy being a mum.

'Do whatever you want to make yourself happy but make sure you do it for your damn self and nobody else! F**k the scales.'

In her second shot, the TV personality wrote, 'F**k off,' over the scales' screen.

Malin recently posed topless as she hit back at cruel trolls who criticised her for sharing lingerie snaps in a body positive post on Friday.

The influencer took to Instagram to share a sizzling snap of herself as she posed up a storm in white underwear adorned with red flowers.

She placed her arm across her chest as she gave a flash of underboob while posing topless, showing off her incredible figure.

Malin styled her dampened brunette tresses in loose waves cascading across her shoulders as she posed for the mirror selfie in her bedroom.

She showed off her natural beauty as she went make-up free, revealing in an accompanying caption that she had been trolled for her lingerie snaps.

Hitting back at the trolls, Malin - who is a mother toXaya, 13 months, said she loves doing what she wants and shared the snap to show how much she 'loves' herself.

She penned: 'I sometimes get trolls saying I'm always in my underwear.

'Here I am. Minus a bra. In all ma glory. Loving myself. Doing what I want. Because I can. Being a mother, but also Malin.

'Being single cos I know I deserve more. Letting my skin glow cos I don't need to constantly wear makeup.

'Don't you just love doing what ya want?'

The reality star, who has been open about her recent weight loss journey, has previously spoken out about her recent health and fitness regime, as well as the importance of 'self-love'.

It comes after Malin stripped down to her underwear as she took to Instagram to share a positive message and show her 'wonderful stretch marks'.

Reaching out to her 712,000 followers, she wrote a poem to express her personal relationship with her body.

She penned: 'The skin I'm in it's mine. It's been through a lot, the stretch-marks; a wonderful marker of time.

'I may be smaller, abs a bit tighter.. but all the exercise I do - my mind feels lighter.

'The skin I'm in.. it still has personality, different lines.. dimples wrinkles - that's the reality.

'I'm not here to impress, I'm here for me.. but I hope I can encourage someone to feel that bit more free.'

Malin has told of how she had embarked on a new fitness regime and was surprised to see some of her followers weren't happy about it.

Sharing a lengthy post, the beauty hit back at trolls who had criticised her for losing weight after she opted for a 'healthier lifestyle'.

She wrote: 'Let me note losing weight came with me opting for healthier lifestyle choices over a year long.

'Now I've always been an advocate for body positivity and that means embracing every part of you. Whatever size.

'But what I don't like seeing is people judging me for embarking on my fitness and health.. and saying I've lost weight and they don't like it.'

Last month, Malin also detailed her heartbreaking struggle with both pre and postnatal depression.

The influencer bravely revealed that she suffered from 'bad suicidal thoughts' at her darkest, which eventually led to the breakdown of her relationship with her daughter's father Jared.

She admitted that her second pregnancy with Xaya was 'bitter sweet' as she battled with PTSD and depression after the tragic death of her daughter Consy in 2019.

Malin shared a montage of photos from her pregnancy and penned a lengthy message to her Instagram.

She began: 'Hey everyone... I want to talk about a period of my life I havent delved into too much.. I stayed quiet and had a lot of help from family and my closest & I hid a lot on social media.

'Jared was an absolute saving grace and it's one of the main reasons we broke up because it got too much for both of us and I needed to heal and get better mentally.'

Chick-fil-A offers up a range of unique fan-favorite menu items, from their Frosted Lemonade to their famous Chick-n-Minis. And who could forget the delicious Chick-fil-A sauce? Unfortunately, although this dipping sauce is undeniably taste, Richards warns that the high calorie, fat, and sodium content make it a poor choice when it comes to your overall healthespecially if you're trying to lose weight.

"This sauce contains high amounts of fat, at 13 grams per serving, due to it being made with soybean oil and egg yolks," she warns. And the calorie content is no joke, either. Richards points out that "the sauce also contains 140 calories per serving and 270mg of sodium." Yikes!

Then there's the issue of the sugar content. We probably don't have to tell you twice that eating too much sugar can take a serious toll on your health and lead to weight gain over time. "The added sugar content of this sauce should also be a concern from high fructose corn syrup and sugar," she adds. 9 grams may not sound like a lot, but your recommended daily intake is around 36 grams. That means just one serving of Chick-fil-A sauce could take up a quarter of your limit.

Of course, fast food is never the healthiest option and should especially be avoided if you're trying to lose weight. But if you do choose to stop by Chick-fil-A, it's at least in your best interest to leave Chick-fil-A sauce out of the picture.

For many, waking up with a warm cup of joe is a morning ritual they can't live without. Whether you enjoy it black, with a splash of coconut milk, or mixed with cinnamon and honey, coffee really perks up your day and puts you in the right kind of mojo. (Heckyou may even take a cue from Starbucks' brand new line of coffee drinks, "Oleato," which is infused with olive oil!) And if you're looking to drop extra pounds off your waistline, your daily coffee habit can come in especially clutch. We chatted with an expert and are here to share how drinking coffee can help you lose weight.

Laura Burak MS, RD, founder of GetNaked Nutrition and author of Slim Down with Smoothies, breaks down the benefits of adding coffee to your weight loss regimen. However, she stresses that coffee shouldn't replace meals or snacks.

"I often find clients that struggle with a history of dieting to still use a 3 p.m. cup of coffee as a substitute for food, as a way to skip a meal and save calories as it does temporarily suppress your appetite. So when you are hungry, please eat," Burak tells us.

That being said, coffee can be a stellar addition to the current steps you're taking to get into shape. So keep reading to learn more about the best ways drinking coffee can help you lose weight. And next, don't miss Do These 5 Things Every Morning To Lose Weight Faster, Dietitian Says.

Your daily coffee-drinking habit can promote feelings of satiety or fullness. This can help you avoid overeating or unhealthy snacking.

"It is also liquid which, like water, helps to keep your tank, or stomach, feeling full and can therefore assist you with eating a more appropriate amount of food if you're looking to lose weight," Burak explains.

Coffee has caffeine that can boost your energy and your metabolism.

"That hit of caffeine when you wake up may be the difference between making it your workout or not that day," Burak explains. "Especially as a mom, it certainly gives me energy and motivates me and is part of a calming morning ritual, so I owe coffee a lot of love. Of course, however, make sure to focus on quality sleep as well and don't use coffee chronically for artificial energy."

If you prefer drinking your coffee black, Burak says one cup contains less than five calories. So a plain-old mug of piping hot coffee without additives has zero sugar and basically no calories, making it an ideal beverage to drink if you're trying to lose weight.

Sure, you may really, really love seasonal lattes and flavored coffees, but they can seriously hurt your weight loss progress. Many individuals develop the bad habit of dressing up their coffee with creamers, syrups, and whipped cream, and turn them into total "sugar bombs," Burak says. Even the nut, seed, and oat milks nowadays sound like healthier choices but are packed with added sugar.6254a4d1642c605c54bf1cab17d50f1e

"Whether your health goals include weight loss or not, beware of the extras you may be adding to your coffee which can contribute a significant amount of unnecessary calories and added sugar and saturated fat to your diet," Burak explains. "Keep coffee to a few cups or less a day so it doesn't make you jittery, contribute to increased anxiety, or affect your sleep at night. Also, remember that coffee is not water and doesn't contribute to keeping you properly hydrated, so make sure to drink enough water as well."

The Surprising Ways Drinking Coffee Can Help You Lose Weight - Eat This, Not That

Intermittent fasting appeals to people looking for a safe and effective way to lose weight and gain health benefits. Have you heard about 60-hour fasting? It is an extended fast that has been gaining popularity. Some swear by it to reset their bodies, boost their metabolisms, and promote weight loss.

This article dives into the world of 60-hour fasting. Well explore the potential benefits and risks of this extended fasting type and give you practical tips and tricks to help you make it through the full 60 hours. Whether you are a seasoned faster or a newbie to the world of intermittent fasting, theres sure to be something in this article to help you on your journey to better health and wellness. Lets get started.

Extended intermittent fasting involves abstaining from food for a long period, and one example of this is fasting for 60 hours or nearly three days. Although this approach is more intensive than a typical fasting routine, it can offer several health benefits and support weight loss efforts.

Some examples of intermittent fasting are the 16/8, 14/10, and OMAD fasting regimens. However, 60-hour fasting outscores the above dietary regimes by quite a lot. This fast requires you to spend 60 hours without ingesting calories to sustain the metabolic switch to ketosis for as long as possible to see maximum weight loss. Because fat burning and ketosis start only after 12 hours of your last meal, if you extend your fast to 60 hours, you will get enhanced results.

Much like the other types of intermittent fasting, a 60-hour fast has incredible benefits that will enhance most aspects of your overall well-being. These involve weight loss, mental sharpness, increased energy levels, lowered blood pressure, and more. Here are a few of the benefits in more detail:

One of the primary causes of the many chronic illnesses we face is increased inflammation in the body. Chronic inflammation may cause arthritis, heart disease, cancer, and more. However, intermittent fasting is the best way to reduce, lower, and reverse chronic inflammation. [1]

When you sustain a calorie deficit, pro-inflammatory monocytes are lowered and released into the bloodstream. This reduces the overall effectiveness of the monocytes assault on the immune response.

When you fast for an extended period, your body enters autophagy. This is where your nervous and metabolic systems work together to purge various toxins at a cellular level. Autophagy also rebuilds and rejuvenates your body on a molecule-by-molecule basis. [2]

The stage of autophagy is where maximum healing and removal of toxins, infections, and damaged cells occurs, and intermittent fasting is the best way to trigger this. Autophagy gives you quite significant benefits in short periods. However, fasting for 60 hours will have an even more pronounced effect on your wellness and will reset your body effectively.

Also, as your digestive, metabolic, and nervous systems reset, your weight loss potential and fat-burning chances are enhanced.

Prolonged fasting will remove excess glucose from your blood and turn your body into a fat-burning machine. The longer your fasting period, the better your insulin sensitivity and blood sugar levels. When your body burns fat through ketosis, your liver releases glucose and processes it as waste instead of fuel, effectively lowering your insulin levels. [3]

Heart disease risk factors include insulin resistance, increased blood sugar, high levels of blood triglycerides, inflammation, and LDL cholesterol. These risk factors decrease substantially with a prolonged 60-hour fast [4].

Fasting has a positive correlation with weight loss. When you put your body into a prolonged calorie deficit, your body will turn to fat cells for fuel, which means your extra weight will be burned away, especially in the form of abdominal fat.

This particular benefit may be enough for most people considering a 60-hour fast. However, losing fat has more benefits than aesthetics; it can lower blood pressure and cholesterol and stave off depression.

With 60-hour fasting, you will spend an entire 60 hours without food, and you can only have water, black tea, and black coffee to sustain yourself during this time. You will likely experience hunger pangs and reduced energy during the fast, especially at the beginning.

During the 60-hour fast, do not push yourself too hard and avoid heavy exercise. It is essential to listen to your body. Most long-term fasters prefer to start their 60-hour fast in the evening after their last meal and sleep through the initial part of the fast.

If you are opting for a 60-hour fast over the weekend, your fasting schedule could be like the one below:

You cannot sustain frequent 60-hour fasts. Experienced fasters get the best results if they do 60-hour fasts once or twice a month. You, as a newbie, can try a prolonged fast once a month and see how your body responds to it before intensifying the schedule.

You have to prepare your body for going through ketosis and burning fat. Here are a few things to consider for the 60-hour fast:

Logic suggests that instead of diving headfirst into the grueling 60-hour fast, it is better to acclimate your body by working your way up through the other fasting regimens. You could spend a few weeks pushing your fasting window north, starting with alternate day fasting and working up to 24 hours, 36 hours, and a 48-hour fast.

Extended fasts are challenging, and they put your body under stress. However, if you do not gradually ease your body into the 60-hour fast, it will shock your system, and you may become ill.

If you want to prepare for a 60-hour fast, it is crucial to consider the food you are consuming in the two days leading up to the fast. Your body will process refined carbs and sugar as sugar; it will increase the insulin level in your body, inducing you to eat the same before your fast. This will set you up for failure. Hence, avoid sugar and refined carbs at least two days before you start your 60-hour fast.

Drinking water in reasonable amounts is key to survival during extended fasts like the 60-hour fast. Water will help you cope with feelings of low energy and trick your body into thinking that your stomach is full. Add some lemon to your water for variation, but do not use additives or sugar.

To sail through the demanding 60-hour fasting regimen, you must eat a healthy and well-balanced meal on your last night before starting your 60-hour fast. Your final meal should ideally have fats like olive oil and avocado and a healthy dose of proteins like chicken or fish. These will give you lots of fuel to burn during the 60 hours of fasting and kick-start your metabolism, making it easier to last the whole way.

With intermittent fasting, your food choice is severely limited, especially during an extended fast like a 60-hour fast. What you drink during this period is also very important. Drink a lot of water, supplementing it with black coffee or tea. Keep away from artificial sweeteners, including sugar-free and zero-calorie drinks. They will, in all probability, alter your insulin levels and hamper the ketosis process.

Bone broth is a critical fasting drink; you can make it from beef, chicken, turkey, pork, fish, or bone marrow. Sip bone broth at regular intervals to keep your hunger pangs at bay. Just because bone broth is allowed during the 60-hour fast, do not gulp it down by the gallon.

You can exercise during intermittent fasting, but keep some parameters in mind. Avoid high-intensity workouts when you are in a calorie deficit and do easy, low-intensity exercises instead. Go for yoga, walking, or push-ups and crunches.

Eating the right things after ending your extended fast is extremely important. You should eat small portions of easily digestible food that will keep you satiated.

Go for fermented foods like unsweetened yogurt and kefir. Opt for different dried fruits and starchy vegetables like potatoes. Try broths and soups that are light and non-creamy. Smoothies are another great option.

Going for 60 hours without food will have some side effects. You may experience hungriness, headaches, light-headedness, irritability, and trouble sleeping. However, these effects will go away.

The following groups of people should abstain from 60-hour fasts:

It is essential to break your 60-hour fast with food that is light and can be easily digested. Go for smoothies, dried fruits, soups, fermented fruits, and vegetables.

There is no set time for a fast, but experts recommend that anywhere from 24 hours to 3 days is the maximum amount of time you can go without food.

Lemon water does not break a fast. Lemon water contains almost no calories and has zero sugar. It does not raise insulin levels, and you can consume it safely during fasting without fear of breaking your fast.

Yes, while you are following intermittent fasting, your sleep time is included in your fasting time. You are not consuming food or drink while sleeping. That is why it is a fasting period.

A 60-hour fast is and can be daunting. However, its many health benefits outweigh the potential risks, and many dieters who tried this fasting system have never looked back. Fasting for 60 hours is tricky, but if you can stick to it, it is an enriching experience.

From boosting insulin response, improving mental clarity, and improving heart health to weight loss, 60-hour fasting is the regimen you need. Ensure you are well prepared and follow our tips for a successful fasting experience.

Mila told the outlet: 'I think as a kid, the "bad girls" were the ones with the darker hair, and like the more relatable all-American gals were the blonde ones.

'So I clearly wasn't that. So I ended up as a young kid being like the "cool girl" or the "bad girl" 'cause I had dark hair that happened to be curly.'

And if you don't remember her in 7th Heaven, you may recall the actress in Baywatch.

In 1995, Mila played Annie in Baywatch and began her rise to stardom.

Before his star-making roles in The 40-Year-Old Virgin and Knocked Up, Seth, 40, made a cameo in Dawson's Creek.

During the sixth and final season of the TV series, Seth played a sarcastic stoner.

His character, Bob, had a one-night stand with Joey's college roommate, Audrey.

Audrey regretted their night, but Bob was quick to brag about it.

His memorable line was: 'Well, we didn't really do much talking, you know what I mean? We porked.'

He boasted about his night in between the sheets amid a smoky haze.

At the end of the episode, it's revealed that Audrey was just using Bob to make her parents upset and to get free alcohol.

From an extra on a bus to a Broadway legend! Lin-Manuel Miranda rapped in How I Met Your Mother before performing on stage

Even the most dedicated Broadway fans may forget that Lin-Manuel, 43, made a guest appearance in the hit TV series How I Met Your Mother.

In season nine during the episode titled Bedtime Stories, the musical prodigy makes a cameo as a character named Gus.

His role as an extra came in the final season the show and just five years after the creation of his first big Broadway musical, In The Heights.

During the episode, Marshall was trying to get his young son, Marvin, to fall asleep on the train, however the little boy was struggling to get some shut-eye.

The father, who was tired from his cross country road trip to make it to Barney and Robin's wedding, attempted to sing a few rhymes to help his son fall asleep.

And while Marshall's tune didn't do the trick, Gus was there to help.

Gus was a fellow passenger on the train who had a short interaction with the father.

The majority of Gus' dialogue involved rapping as a nod to Lin-Manuel's impressive career as a singer and lyricist.

However, Marshall just thought he was showing off.

Towards the end of the episode, the bus got a flat tire and the passengers were sent outside to watch a fireworks show.

The scene was meant to be a reference to the Broadway star's award-winning musical.

And while Lin-Manuel may have gained some exposure from making an appearance on the show, that wasn't the only reason he graced the screen in How I Met Your Mother.

The playwright also had connections to the TV show's creators, Carter Bays and Craig Thomas.

Now Lin-Manuel has become a full-blown star and took the industry by storm when he wrote, produced and starred in the Broadway musical Hamilton.

He continues to leave fans jaw-dropped as he continues to releases new musical numbers for various TV shows and movies.

Matthew McConaughey went from a murder victim to an Oscar winner as he first appeared in an episode of Unsolved Mysteries

Although many people assume Matthew, 53, first graced Hollywood with his iconic role of David Wooderson in Dazed and Confused, the star started acting before that.

In a 1992 episode of Unsolved Mysteries, fans may spot Matthew making his debut on the show, re-enacting a segment about a murder victim.

The star - and his ripped physique - graced screens as he portrayed an ex-marine, who was also a young dad, named Larry.

While mowing his mother's lawn, Larry spots a sexual predator who is on the run for murder.

The predator gets out of his car and heads to a group of children who are playing outside.

Being the brave hero he is known for portraying, Matthew's character decides to take the predator's car keys and hold him in one place until authorities arrive at the scene.

And while Larry tries to be a local hero, he is shot multiple times and is killed.

Now, the Texan actor is still portraying fearless characters in films like Interstellar, True Detective and more.

Years before he showed his basketball skills! A pint-sized Zac Efron made a cameo in TV show Firefly four years before he became Troy Bolton in High School Musical

Before Zac, 35, rose to stardom from his role on Disney Channel's High School Musical, he appeared on the TV series Firefly.

Zac's very first role was when he was just a pint-sized actor in the cult show Firefly.

The High School Musical star played a teenage version of the character known as Simon.

The episode, which aired in 2002, featured the young star when he was an unknown actor, so he only had a few lines.

In the scene, the young celebrity is seen attempting to do his homework on a tablet, only to be interrupted by his sister's games.

He was quick to respond to his sibling's imaginary battle scenario.

When his sister said the crew had resorted to cannibalism, he asked: 'That was fast. Don't we have rations or anything?'

The scene is brief and shows the 15-year-old in his first-ever big screen appearance.

His cameo was just four years before he sang as Troy Bolton.

Since his acting debut, Zac has gone on to star in major films such as 17 Again, The Greatest Showman, and Gold.

From a furry lion mascot to a brave competitor: Jennifer Lawrence first starred in Monk as a mascot before gracing screen as Katniss in The Hunger Games

Although she was nominated for two Academy Awards by the time she was just 22 years old, Jennifer, now 32, didn't always have her pick of roles in Hollywood.

What's more, both groups of dieters were followed for three years and while both groups put weight on, the amounts were similar.

Katrina Purcell, a dietician who led the study, stated: Our results show that achieving a weight loss target is more likely, and drop-out is lower, if losing weight is done quickly."

However Dr Michael added an important caveat - rapid weight loss is not suitable for everyone and it's imperative dieters maintain the right balance of nutrients if they do decide to try it.

Dr Michael's very own rapid weight loss diet is called The Very Fast 800, where slimmers eat just 800 calories per day for eight weeks.

This aims to "kickstart significant weight loss and reset their metabolism".

Dr Michael explained that "the key to feeling satiated, while restricting calories, is to consume a moderately low-carb Mediterranean-style diet, rich in protein, fibre and healthy fats".

"If this approach is right for you, we recommend that you stay on this stage for a minimum of two weeks, though you can follow the plan for up to 12 weeks depending on your goals and how much weight you have to lose."

The results are huge, with the expert claiming that a typical weight loss following the programme is more than 10kg sustained over 12 months.

Following the Mediterranean diet, it's recommended that slimmers stock up on vegetables, low-calorie fruits such as apples and pears, nuts, seeds, legumes, whole grains, fish and seafood, poultry, eggs, dairy and healthy fats, staying away from processed foods.

Trainer shares 5 exercises to 'burn fat' fast during menopause

Celebrity trainer and menopause expert Michael Fireman exclusively shared with Express.co.uk his top exercises for women to lose weight fast during menopause - and I tried them out. The trainer told me that "to achieve the most out of your workouts I recommend a constant combination of the perfect threesome" which is high/low impact resistance training, cardiovascular training and flexibility and posture.

Combining these three exercise approaches consistently "will leave you feeling confident, strong, lean and full of energy," he explained

"Exercise smarter, no longer!" he said, and added that mixing up your training and applying yourself to the exercises that step you out of your comfort zone "will help create the body that you desire".

These exercises will increase your flexibility and you will regain balance in your body, reduce stress on your muscles and ligaments and prevent muscular imbalances reducing the risk of injury, Michael explained.

"Good posture is associated with better body image, you will become more confident and look thinner giving you a boost in self-esteem," he promised.

High/low impact resistance training

He explained that resistance training that puts demand on your muscles will "not only show off your curves, tighten your skin and help your posture but will also help you constantly burn fat during and after each workout".

Muscle is important for optimal calorie burning, increased energy and dense bones. "Use free weights, resistance bands or body weight as part of your strength training routine," he recommended.

Cardiovascular training

Michael said that running, walking, spinning, dancing, rowing, and swimming all count toward keeping your heart muscle strong. However, "if you're barely breaking a sweat, you need to up the intensity to benefit from your cardio workouts".

You should be aiming to exercise at 80 percent of your maximum heart rate three to four times a week, he advised, and recommended including this into your resistance training workouts by following a HIIT/circuit training routine.

DON'T MISS:

Flexibility and posture

Last but not least, "stretch yourself young," he said, to move with freedom and ease as "tension and stiffness speeds up the ageing process".

"Stretch daily and you will help restore elasticity and youthfulness to your body, move more freely and hold better posture meaning you start to look and feel younger," Michael added.

The two types of basic stretches are static and dynamicstretching. Static stretching means a stretch is held in a challenging but comfortable position for a period of time, usually between 10 to 30 seconds.

Dynamic stretching means a stretch is performed by moving through a challenging but comfortable range of motion repeatedly, usually 10 to 12 times. Dynamic stretching requires more thoughtful coordination because of the movements involved.

We tried a combination of cardiovascular and high/low impact resistancetraining, and the personal trainer recommended adding these exercises "into your routine three or four times a week".

Michael added that it is essential women built stronger bones every day with weight-bearing exercises that are both high and low in impact, and they can be performed in the comfort of their own homes.

"Weight-bearing exercise can be as simple as climbing the stairs, going for a brisk walk, dancing and even gardening. These are classed as low impact-which will still help in increasing bone density, but you will get more out of the high-impact exercises such as jogging, step-ups, lunging and tennis etc," he explained.

He also urged women to "take the stairs", especially during menopause. Michael explained: "When you climb the stairs, you have to concentrate on your balance, engage your core and lift your entire body against gravity.

"Imagine the benefits of incorporating exercises we may normally do on the ground onto the staircase. You will help strengthen and shape the most common problem areas like calves, thighs, buttocks and stomach not to mention send your heart rate up equaling more calorie burn."
