Greg Wallace says he doesn't believe in diets

Gregg Wallace has revealed he never went on a diet to achieve his four-and-a-half stone weight loss.

The Masterchef star, 57, added how he feels fitter and healthier now than he did 30 years ago as he opened up on his lifestyle transformation.

Appearing on Loose Women on Tuesday's show, Gregg insisted he doesn't believe in cutting down on portions or dieting and hopes to influence people to take the same approach as him.

Speaking about his weight loss on Loose Women, Gregg said: "I'm probably fitter and healthier now at 57 than I was at 27.

"I never went on a diet, I learned about healthy eating," Gregg said. "I eat three big meals a day and I've been helping people now for a couple of years."

Greg, who recently made a film on food poverty, added: "I don't like diets, I don't think you should restrict yourself. It's all about healthy eating and that's what I try and push."

Loose Women host Coleen Nolan then asked: "And portion size and things like that?"

To which Gregg, who revealed his son is yet to speak at age three, insisted: "No! No, no no. Mate, I eat tonnes!"

It comes after Gregg opened up on his decision to ditch fast food for home cooked meals and regular exercise in a bid to have "the body of a 20-year-old".

Gregg, who is married to wife Anna and shares son Syd with her, revealed he "wasn't happy" when he weighed more than 16stone and tried every "fad" diet and "short-term fix" but nothing worked.

Speaking to The Sun, Gregg revealed: "Some people say, Im overweight and Im happy. Well I was overweight and I wasnt happy.

"And I say to those people, If you could take a pill right now and be three stone lighter, would you take it? And of course they would.

"The trouble is, people think weight loss is going to be difficult, because theyve tried it previously and theyve tried a really restrictive diet that is uncomfortable."

Gregg added how his own weight loss "wasn't a struggle" and added how he found it was better to "wean yourself off the c**p diet" gradually as he shared his secret.

It comes after Gregg revealed his hopes to encourage more people across the country to get in their kitchens and learn to cook.

He told the Metro in June: "I think we have a bit of a crisis in the country where the people dont know how to cook.

"I hear all the time from people 'I dont have time to cook' and that translates to me as 'I dont know how'.

"I think weve got a real problem with that and its nothing to do with lazy parents or even lazy grandparents were generations too late. Weve actually de-skilled a nation, and that has been concerning me for quite a while."
