Kellyannes Running Story:

My journey into running started while trying loose weight. This time last year I started with a fantastic personal trainer who was great, I managed to increase my fitness and lose 2 stone by Christmas. I felt amazing and so much more confident!

In January of this year, I started the Couch 2 5k programme with Jog Colin. It was brilliant and I discovered that I loved running, having never run before in my life. From then, I went from strength to strength completing the Belfast Craic 10k in March and numerous of other runs.

I have since lost just short of 6 stone by running 5 times a week. I also do a Park Run every Saturday morning which is an amazing program with great support and a wonderful way to make new friends.

Never in a million years did I ever think I would be into running as I was so overweight and unhealthy. The difference in both my physical appearance and my mental health is fantastic. There really is no better feeling than putting on running gear and hitting the open roads. My motto is if I can do that, anybody can.

I have also converted my husband and he is now my running buddy. For months I pestered him to come with me and finally he relented and now says its the best thing he has ever done. Running has become our thing to do together and we love planning our routes and entering races together and of course collecting our bling!

The two of us, along with my brother Martin are running Belfast Half Marathon for Autism NI, a charity that is very close to our hearts having family members who suffer from Autism.

Everyday I still have to pinch myself that me an overweight couch potato that couldn't walk never mind run the length of myself is actually following a rigid training programme in order to run a half marathon. As my family and friends say, the transformation in a year is incredible!

My advice to anybody thinking of taking up running is to go for it, and definitely start by registering at your local couch to 5k programme- honestly you won't regret it.
